Response:On page 35, it mentions that one of Parvana's aunt was arrested along with hundreds of schoolgirls because they staged a protest against the Soviet backed government. My question is why were the schoolgirls and Parvana's aunt arrested for staging a protest?I think that it is because the Soviets/Russia at that time a communist party and did not like people staging protests against them/What do you think?

Response: On page 42/43, it says that Parvana and her mother got beat up by the soldiers because they asked the soldiers to release Parvana dad. My question is why do men think there so much more powerful then women and also why are men aloud to hurt women. What do you think?

Response: On page 52, they are talking about the family running out of food and mother wasn't doing anything. Then, on page 53, Nooria askes Parvana to go buy food. My question is - Why does Parvana have to go? Can't Nooria go? Shouldn't the older person go out? I thought they can only go out with their father or a man.

Response to Megan: It said in the book that Nooria looked too much like a girl and she has never been outside before, so she
does' t know where to go and she might slip and fall in her burqua.

Response: During these 4 chapters, I am thinking about how poorly the Talibans are treating women. And it also said some of the men liked keeping the women indoors. Why is that? I wonder why the Talibans give less freedom to women and why they think men are stronger. What do you guys think?

Response:On page 55, the children right that is being violated is Article 28:"You have the right to a good quality education. You should be encouraged to go to school at the highest level."
For example, the Taliban did not let any girls go to school.
Also Article 27:"You have the right to food, clothing, a safe place to live and to have your basic needs met.You should not be disadvantaged so that you can't do many of the things other kids can do."
For example there were many bombs that fell on Kabul during the war, this is a violation of the UNCRC Child Laws.
